Seamless steel pipe information: What material does American standard 8620 seamless steel pipe correspond to in China
Note: 8620 itself is a commonly used grade for bar/forging materials, and this material identification is still used when making seamless steel pipes. Its pipe material implementation standards are usually GB/T 8162 (for structural use) or GB/T 3087 (for low and medium pressure boilers), but the material body is still 20CrNiMo.
Pay attention to the differences:
Equivalent "refers to the engineering equivalence, not absolute consistency in composition; The actual selection needs to be based on specific technical agreements, hardenability bandwidth (Jominy curve), and metallurgical quality requirements.
It is industry practice for some suppliers in the market to directly label 8620 as 20CrNiMo for sales, but the formal drawing conversion or key components should specify the standard version and acceptance conditions.

AISI/SAE 8620 seamless steel pipe corresponds to the Chinese national standard material grade of 20CrNiMo (implementing standard GB/T 3077-2015); If the raw material requires to ensure hardenability (i.e. American standard 8620H), it corresponds to 20CrNiMoH (in accordance with standard GB/T 5216-2004).
